Viral CC chemokine that binds to a broad spectrum of viral and human chemokine receptors and, depending on the receptor, acts either as an antagonist or an agonist. Capable of binding to chemokine receptors of the 4 families (CCR, CXCR, XCR, and CX3CR). Acts as an antagonist toward CCR1, CCR2, CCR5, and CCR10, competing with the endogenous chemokine binding and signaling. On the other hand, acts as an agonist of CCR3 and CCR8, triggering G protein-mediated intracellular calcium release and activation of the ERK and PI3K/AKT signaling pathways, or chemotaxis.
