Functions as a receptor with constitutive G(s)-mediated signaling activity that stimulates cyclic AMP (cAMP) production. Also engages the G(i)/G(o) pathway, which counteracts the cAMP increase driven by G(s) activation. Additionally, two lipids sphingosylphosphorylcholine (SPC) and sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) may act as endogenous ligand and activate GPR12
