Substrate-recognition component of the SCF (SKP1-CUL1-F-box protein)-type E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, promoting ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation of specific target proteins including TOP2A, RAB27A or itself. Regulates topoisomerase IIalpha/TOP2A decatenation activity and plays an important role in maintaining genomic stability. Plays a role in lipid metabolism and inflammation through the ubiquitinated degradation of RAB27A. Strongly regulates beta-cell survival without having any significant independent effect on insulin secretion.
