Regulates cellular transport and efflux of cholesterol. Plays a role in phosphatidylinositol-4-phophate (PI4P) turnover at the neuronal membrane. Localizes at the neurons plasma membrane-endoplasmic reticulum contact sites, and exchanges phosphatidylserine (1,2-diacyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-L-serine, PS) from the endoplasmic reticulum for phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate (1,2-diacyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-(1D-myo-inositol 4-phosphate), PI(4)P) from the plasma membrane.
